The Code Market has been designed to offer a market-place for material that is suitable for re-use. The idea is that, in our wired world, many items are being developed that can be used more than once. And re-use benefits all parties.
The Code Market is your portal:
- to advertise your Intellectual Property to a world-wide audience, or
- to request Intellectual Property for your project.
Our Principles are as follows:
- Allow buyers and sellers to connect in a forum that is 100% transparent. Being open is good!
- Allow buyers and sellers to build up a profile (be it as individuals or as groups) based on previous transactions. These profiles form the basis for deciding whether you would want to do business with each other.
- Simplify the selling and buying process by providing a market-place that is designed around openess and mutually beneficial relationships.
Are you in our target market?
We have three principle audiences:
- Project Managers who wish to de-risk their projects by engaging with developers with clear referenceability (based on the profiles on The Code Market).
- Financial Managers who see the benefit of purchasing material that has been written previously, instead of paying for the material to be written "from scratch".
- Developers who are skillful enough to "invent a wheel" thats worthwhile re-using.
Whats for Sale?
Literally, anything that can be packaged into a file! But here are some examples:
- Programs that extend existing applications. An example of this might be a module that accomplishes something that many clients might like, but which is not yet delivered by a vendor.
- Utilities that extend the use of an existing application. Here an example might be a data migration routine for a specific software package.
- Reports and queries that can easily be turned into reports. Common examples here include legislative and sector specific reports.
- "Half-wheels" - items which have been created which need to be tweaked for an individual client, but which in themselves would save a client time and reduce risk. Here, an example is a data warehouse, but one which each client may have to populate.
